Sigma Photo Blog Feature
Jada and I have a new feature up on the official Sigma Photo Blog, breaking down the exact lenses behind some of our creative shoots.
When we're designing a new set, the focal length is the absolute first thing we figure out before I even start cutting a piece of plywood. The lens completely dictates the perspective, the optical illusions, and how the final camera angle manipulates the space.
Sigma asked us to pull back the curtain on the technical side of things, so we broke down how three specific focal lengths shape our work:
- The 24mm Wide-Angle: How we use wider glass to capture the full scale of our environments and create immersive, wide-angle depth.
- The 50mm Prime: Our go-to staple for natural, clean perspective that keeps the focus entirely on the story and the subject.
- The 85mm Telephoto: How tight lens compression lets us pull the background forward and lock the geometry of the set around the frame.
