All About The Journey
This September, we're doing something a little ridiculous.
What if the journey was the point? We're moving from Virginia to Los Angeles, but instead of making the drive as quickly as possible, we're turning it into our biggest personal project yet.
THE JOURNEY
5,000+ miles. 20 days. 12+ landscapes.
We could make this move in four days. Instead, we're stretching it into twenty and using that time to create, explore, experiment, and see what happens when we make the journey itself the destination.
Along the way, we'll photograph the same handcrafted set everywhere from swamps and deserts to mountains, salt flats, forests, and the California coast.
THE MOBILE STUDIO
For the entire trip, the bed of our 2006 Toyota Tacoma will become our photography studio.
We're building one handcrafted set directly into the truck bed, with our camera and lighting locked into place. The opening of the set becomes a frame for the real world behind it.
The studio stays exactly the same.
America becomes the backdrop.
The camera won't move.
The lights won't move.
The set won't move.
If we want a different photograph, we have to move the truck.
