Ever know as soon as you pressed the shutter that the photo you just captured was really special?
That's exactly what this photo was for me.
This is my favorite photograph I've ever taken because it looks exactly how my lowest moments feel.
The Concept
The concept for this shoot was all about identity and isolation. We wanted to create a scene where the subject almost disappeared into the set.
To support that idea, we designed a simple box photo set to be as minimal as possible. We decided to create a series of monochromatic, partially nude images with everything stripped back. Our model wore only a pair of tights and gloves, and in every pose she covered her face to conceal her identity.

To achieve the effect we were after, we color-matched the tights directly to the set so the model would seamlessly blend into the environment.
The set itself was custom-built to feel sterile, cold, and liminal. Every pose we explored focused on conveying feelings of sadness, loneliness, and defeat.
The ultimate goal of this shoot wasn't to photograph a person. It was to photograph a feeling.
Choosing THE Image
Overall this was a really powerful shoot. And we ended up with a gallery filled with interesting conceptual poses that all communicated some intense emotions.
Out of hundreds of photographs, I immediately knew this was THE one.
It connected deeply with me because this is what my lowest days look like.
The days when everything feels like it's going wrong. When the weight of it all becomes so heavy that you just want to disappear. You don't want to explain yourself. You don't want to be seen. You just want to retreat until it passes.
I think that's why this image resonates with me so much. The hunched shoulders, the hidden face, and the way she almost disappears into the room all create this overwhelming sense of loneliness and defeat.
I also love that this frame reveals the entire empty set surrounding her. That vast, sterile space amplifies the feeling of isolation.
She blends into the set so completely that she almost disappears within it. It almost feels as if the room itself is swallowing her. Combined with her hair covering her face, there's another layer of separation. She's refusing to be seen, retreating even further into herself.
I figured if the emotion in this image felt so deeply familiar to me, maybe it would resonate with someone else too.
And that's why this became THE image.
