What lens are you using? MM? Which one, exactly? These questions seem to be among the most popular ones we receive on Instagram. It's interesting, isn't it? Personally, I find it strange why this particular question is so common. But hey, the people have spoken, and they want to know.
So, here's the answer you've been waiting for! Are you ready? We primarily use the Tokina 16-28mm F/2.8 lens, which we mount to a Canon body. Sure, occasionally we might rent a Hasselblad X2D or shoot with Canon's 24mm, 50mm, and 85mm lenses, but more often than not, we find ourselves reaching for the trusty Tokina 16-28mm.
You might wonder why we have such an unusual lens in our arsenal. Well, a few years ago, we had booked a real estate gig, and unfortunately, we lacked a wide enough lens for the job. We didn't want to splurge on an expensive lens just for that one project, so we scoured the internet, and lo and behold, we stumbled upon the Tokina 16-28mm. It's not without its flaws – it has its fair share of quirks, and it's heavy, but it got the job done.
Fast forward to our work on our sets. We love experimenting with different lenses for our pictures, and one day, we decided to try out this super wide lens – the Tokina 16-28mm. And you know what? It completely blew us away! It was a game-changer, to say the least.
